Shakespeare Summer Camp

The Winter's Tale

The Dance

A wonderful Winter’s Tale Summer!

We’re loving these comments about this year’s Shakespeare Camp production of  The Winter’s Tale!  The three-week camp for teens, outdoors at the beautiful Billings Estate Museum, was a great success. Thanks to our wonderful staff, Rosemary Nolan, RJ Mayo, David da Costa, Jacob Paul, and Katia Chabanyuk—and thanks to all of you who took the time to write these notes.

“I love camp. It is so much fun, and everyone loves and supports each other. My camp friends have become part of my family. Camp staff are amazing too! I’m definitely coming back next year!!!”

“My daughter had an incredible experience at your Shakespeare theatre camp this year. The staff and fellow campers made her feel welcome, valued, and capable—and the impact has been amazing. Her self-confidence truly soared during her time at camp, and she came home each day more enthusiastic and proud of what she was learning and creating. Thank you for creating such a meaningful and supportive space for young performers.”

“My favourite part of camp was meeting new people and making new friends.”

“I really like this camp and will be returning next year. I loved everything and will never forget it. Everyone is amazing and nice.”

“Amazing results with a program that is affirming of all participants.”

“Best production yet. Very smooth. Lots of talent. Loved the humour and the drama. Great acting.”

Staged reading at Shekman Arts Centre

Freddy the Detective
Freddy, Squirrel and the Rabbit

At Shenkman Arts Centre’s Richcraft Theatre
Saturday, December 7 at 10:30 and 12:30

Freddy the Pig wants to be a detective, but the mysteries are piling up. Who stole the toy train? Where’s the missing rabbit? How do you lock up a misbehaving fly? Luckily friends like Jinx, a cat, Mrs. Wiggins, a cow, and Mrs. Webb, a spider, can help.

We’re working on a new show, based on a series of books by Walter R. Brooks, and you’re invited to a sneak peek at the work so far. Join us for a staged reading of the script, animated with puppets, masks, music and dance.

We’re thrilled to have dancer Simone Brown and violinist Reiko Lokker join us for this project and we’d love your feedback.

We are grateful to the Shenkman Arts Centre’s ARTicipate Foundation and the The Ottawa Community Foundation for their support of Freddy the Detective.

Check out other SAC events, including a local vendors’ Holiday Market on the same day as our performances, Saturday December 7th.

Look for us in the Richcraft Theatre. We can’t wait to see you there.
